Independent support

The SEND Code of Practice says:

"Families may receive help from an independent supporter...recruited locally and receive accredited training, including legal training, to help any family going through an EHC needs assessment and the process of developing an EHC plan.." (2.20)

SENDIASS have Independent Supporters who are able to help support children, families and young people throughout the Education, Health and Care Plan process.

Their support can range from help with form filling, support at meetings and viewing schools to making telephone calls and writing emails. Depending on each individual, the intensity of their support can be however the family feel comfortable, for example, we can support in person or over email, we can support at meetings if possible or just help go through the paperwork.

You can request the help of an Independent Supporter by calling the helpline on 01473 265210 or emailing the SENDIASS inbox to
